Georgia to Maine - - Please join me from start (4/1) to finish (8/10) - 132 days!!!!!

Bethlehem, NH
I have completed my thru-hike of the AT from Georgia to Maine; I started 4/1 and completed 8/10/10. I decided to do this thru-hike in memory of my brother Michael and in turn decided to turn it into a fundraiser. All money raised went to the Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country which gives year-round opportunities in sports and recreation to people with physical or developmental disabilities. My wife Pam and I got involved with this program because it allows us to help people with disabilities enjoy the outdoors like we do and my brother Michael did. Michael was born mentally challenged, and he loved to visit us in the North Country of NH and go hiking. He also loved the outdoors and did many other sports. So, to help others do this and other outdoor activities is a TRIBUTE to him, and an HONOR to us. Many of you have helped me along my journey and donated (follow donation link) directly to a secure website. All donations have gone and WILL CONTINUE to go to ASPNC – nonprofit org to help assist others to hike, ski, kayak, snow shoe..etc… Thank you all in advance for your kindness & generosity, Dave & Pam Smith

More fundraising help

 Hi All,
The Courier, a local newspaper here in Littleton area put a very nice article on the front page of this weeks paper regarding my fundraising hike, very greatful for the help spreading the word, Kayti did a great job writing it!

Also had supper with Bruce(Featherfoot) and his wife Sondra Mon. nite, Bruce thru hiked last year and is getting ready to relocate to NH permanantly from NJ. Great hearing more stories about the trail. Looking forward to seeing them again (good people).

Last but not least here is a picture of the reaction I got from my nephew Shaun and his friend when I told them I planned on hiking 2170+ miles this summer.

Winter on the AT

Hi All,.

The weather was so nice I decided to hike a small part of the AT today, hiked the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail to Crawfords Path to the summit of Mt Washington. It was a balmy -09 degrees at the start at 7:45, and around 18 at the summit 0 to -5 with the wind gusts up to 30mph! Awsome hike, took me 3 hours to reach summit, had lunch and back down in under 2 1/2hrs. My gear is arriving in Florida tonight with my Inlaws Skip and Chris, so things are all set for April fools day.

Talk to you  all later,

Pam and I did a short hike to Mt Willard in Crawford's Notch today.  The snow was 15"+ and lots of limbs and full size trees down on the trail.  Made hot coco at the top w/my new alcohol stove.  My wife loved it.  Beautiful sunny day.  Great hike.
