Georgia to Maine - - Please join me from start (4/1) to finish (8/10) - 132 days!!!!!

Bethlehem, NH
I have completed my thru-hike of the AT from Georgia to Maine; I started 4/1 and completed 8/10/10. I decided to do this thru-hike in memory of my brother Michael and in turn decided to turn it into a fundraiser. All money raised went to the Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country which gives year-round opportunities in sports and recreation to people with physical or developmental disabilities. My wife Pam and I got involved with this program because it allows us to help people with disabilities enjoy the outdoors like we do and my brother Michael did. Michael was born mentally challenged, and he loved to visit us in the North Country of NH and go hiking. He also loved the outdoors and did many other sports. So, to help others do this and other outdoor activities is a TRIBUTE to him, and an HONOR to us. Many of you have helped me along my journey and donated (follow donation link) directly to a secure website. All donations have gone and WILL CONTINUE to go to ASPNC – nonprofit org to help assist others to hike, ski, kayak, snow shoe..etc… Thank you all in advance for your kindness & generosity, Dave & Pam Smith

Friday 6/11

This morning got up early and packed up camp. He had cell service and knew the kids in NH were going to be getting out of school on summer break soon and wanted to talk to them one last time. So, he was able to call into the Little High School and talk to Miss Jen Carbonneau's class. He had visited w/them back in March before he left on his journey. They have been following his progress and doing some AT projects. Wonderful for them to be so interested in Dave and the trail. Some may hike w/him when he gets up to the Whites and he will see the rest when he re-visits the classroom in September when he is back at home.

He got to Duncannnon, PA about 11:30. Had some lunch and hiked on. He will hitch a ride back to town tomorrow in hopes to meet up w/some of the April Fool's gang that he started w/such as Mr Vix and 2 Rings. They all plan to watch the US vs England Soccer game. Should be a great match. He is also meeting up w/his cousin Mark. Sounds like everyone will have super time. Beer, food, sports and a night at the famous Doyle Hotel.

He cossed over the Susquenhanna River on the Clark's Ferry Bridge.  He is familar w/this river as it runs through his home town in up state PA.

22.7 miles today and that's w/a nap. He had stopped about 3ish because he was hot, tired and had a headache. Once he woke he moved on another 6 miles or so to the Peters Mountain Shelter where he set up camp for the night.
